A DAY IN THE ALPS

A journey escaping into nature with the Sony A7SIII.

A film team from Munich approached me with the idea to document my photography through a portrait film. The idea was to create something beautiful for our portfolio that showcases our creative skills and visual language.

The main focus of my work is street photography. So we came up with the idea of the "escape". Escape from the busy city life. Escape from a pandemic that has changed and altered the way we live in big cities. How can we escape and find a new perspective? How does the pandemic affect rural areas and the people living there? These were the questions that we asked us and it became clear that it was time to escape into nature. To spend a day in the Alps. Sony Germany supported our project by providing us with their newest A7S III camera and lenses. Since we needed a compact and light set-up for filming this project, the A7S III was the perfect match.

We started the day at 5AM heading towards our first stop: the Kochelsee-Lake in the German Alps. There we met a fisherman, who was kind enough to let us interview him, while we were filming his work. We were very grateful for the opportunity to capture him on camera.

After spending the entire morning with the fisherman, we drove to our next destinations (Walchensee, Sylvenstein-Stausee, Leutsch-Klamm, and Isar-Tal). At the end we decided to go on top of a mountain. This especially, was an interesting experience, since we found ourselves to be the only visitors on this mountain peak. The usual visitors stayed at home due to the ongoing pandemic. We had an incredible sunset with a unique variation of light and shadow, warm and cold. Time definitely stopped in this moment. This was the end of our trip.
